My First 100 Days
Years of experience working in City Hall and serving on City Council provides insight into the current environment, organizational policies, personnel, relationships, and functionality of local government. That’s 16 years of learning, listening, and developing key strategies to move us forward.
My “First 100 Days” as mayor will set the tone for improving City Hall's culture and building a stronger foundation for success. I’m ready to start on Day One.
Community Town Halls
My administration will host three town hall meetings around the city – with one meeting in Spanish – to connect with residents, hear their concerns, and learn about the projects they want to see prioritized in the budget.
Tax Reform
Implement new real estate tax reforms to relieve residents.
Lower the tax rate for small businesses (BPOL tax).
Lower the meals tax.
Housing
Strategically prioritize publicly-owned residential zoned parcels to create hundreds of affordable housing units.
Transportation
Launch a new Department of Transportation dedicated to safe streets, reconnecting neighborhoods, and frequent public transit that is fare-free, dignified, reliable, and accessible.
Economic Development
Restructure the Economic Development Authority to compete in the region.
Implement plans to build a state-of-the-art Southside Workforce Development Center.
Coordinate weekly Friday morning meetings with every decision-maker involved in the building permitting process to review and approve permits.
Neighborhood Investments
Every neighborhood deserves equitable access to schools, libraries, community centers, parks, grocery stores, childcare, and more. My plan is to deliver neighborhood investments to address any inequalities in these areas to improve the quality of life, including essential services and amenities in underserved neighborhoods.
